In today’s volatile and uncertain world, the need to cultivate leaders who can rise to present challenges while embracing future opportunities has never been greater. Fred Tan embodies this mission. Drawing from his rich journey in organisational learning and human capital management—along with operational experiences in the United Nations and humanitarian missions in Timor-Leste and Aceh—Fred is deeply committed to developing adaptive, effective leaders who can thrive in diverse, high-performing teams.

For seven years, Fred led the Singapore Armed Forces’ Centre for Leadership Development (CLD), where he designed and implemented a world-class leadership development system that shaped a pipeline of over 15,000 military leaders annually. He also championed a culture of open learning across the organisation. Under his stewardship, CLD was recognised with HRM Asia’s “Best in Leadership Development Award” in 2016.

A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point - one of the world’s foremost institutions in leadership education, Fred has served as both an exemplary leader and a role model throughout his military career. Guided by his philosophy of lifelong learning, he earned Post-graduate Degrees from the New York University (NYU) and Singapore Management University (SMU) and pursued advanced training in Leadership Development and Crisis Leadership at Harvard University.

Fred is a certified Transformative Coach with Coach Masters Academy and an accredited administrator of CCL’s Benchmark 360 assessments. His professional credentials further include: Specialist Adult Educator (Curriculum Development), WSQ Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA), CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Human Resources, Outward Mindset and Leadership Facilitator (Arbinger Institute), Foundational Facilitation Workshop (Facilitators Network Singapore), and TetraMap Facilitator. He is also accredited as a Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) and holds a Certificate in Public Relations from the Institute of Public Relations Singapore. Fred is currently serving as a SAF Executive Coach (EC) and a Exercise Brigade Commander Coach.
